A black humor comedy set in the 1830s,蝴蝶JUL-070毕业典礼之后 the era of England written by Dickens and Hardy. Helena, the protagonist, escaped from the shipwreck and came to an English town on the shore. There she fell in love with Edmund, the widower who lost his wife, and the two soon got married. Edmund, who had been living a Puritan life, thought he had married a pure virgin, but he did not know that Helena had an unknown dark history behind her. After marrying Edmund, Helena was watched by the housekeeper Dorothy (Julia Davis) everywhere. The housekeeper had an indescribable obsession with the dead first heroine alabel. In her eyes, Helena couldn't compare with alabel everywhere. Dorothy has to keep the secrets of the past from being discovered, but also beware of Dorothy's frame everywhere, and endure her husband's severe criticism and the appearance of a love enemy. Other characters in the play include Dr. fergetty and his wife Hester, who has poor legs and feet, bittie leiserford, the gossip woman in the town, Tom and Anne, the lively couple - they are Edmund's servants, father Joseph of the local church, the mute sailor Geoff, and a mysterious hunchback who knows Helena's past. Sky commented on the TV series, "in this gothic Town, there are all kinds of strange characters - madmen, doctors, hunchbacks, prodigals, maids, witches, and a lovely dog called Wilfred. The play exudes a sense of black absurdity everywhere, which has become Julia Davis' iconic style."
